When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms that will allow us to begin your dental treatment. We will ask you to fill out several forms that will get you acquainted with our office. To save time, the forms are available here on the website for you to print out and complete prior to arriving. You may download those forms here.
Your initial exam will last approximately one hour. This hour will consist of taking the necessary and appropriate x-rays, a periodontal recording and assessment by the hygienist, intraoral photographs, oral cancer screen, and a complete examination and diagnosis by Dr. Carson. We will then provide a treatment plan outlining your existing dental problems and proposed treatment. (Please note that the periodontal recording, photos, and oral cancer screen are all part of the examination and are not billed out separately.)
If time allows, we will also clean your teeth on this first visit, but it is important to note that a first-visit cleaning cannot always be guaranteed. Patients with extensive problems or excessive tartar build-up will require more time to adequately evaluate than a patient in excellent health. Additionally, a regular cleaning may not be the appropriate and adequate treatment for your periodontal condition.
